UKs First Airport Therapy Dog Program Has Launched At Aberdeen Airport

The UK’s First Airport Therapy Dog Program has launched at Aberdeen Airport. The program will officially start this Saturday 4 May 2019.

Most of us are familiar with the realities of how stressful an airport can be. For instance, whether it’s long flight delays, getting pulled aside for random screening at security, or just the simple fact you have travel anxiety.

Travel will be a little less stressful upon meeting the Aberdeen Airport, new Caine Crew. Their job is to give out free “pet downs” rather than a dreaded airport “pat downs“.

Vane spoke exclusively with, Fraser Bain, the Airport Duty Manager at Aberdeen Airport, to learn more about the new program. Fraser shared the excitement with us.

“We are very excited to launch the UK’s first airport therapy dog team. We noticed that many airports in North America had successfully started their own therapy dog programmes and we wanted to bring some of the same dog magic to Scotland! This is about the passenger experience, putting a smile on people’s faces and making their journey through the airport more enjoyable. As well as helping our passengers we also recognise the benefits to the mental health and well-being of our staff.”
