Turns out, touching down in Amsterdam has its benefits. Especially if you’re headed to Schiphol Airport. The airport’s gardens are the perfect place to relax after a long flight. There are spots to kick back on a cozy bean bag chair, charge your phone on an exercise bike and smell sweet floral scents while waiting for your luggage. Schiphol Airport gardens have it all.
Human well-being depends on nature. It’s a fact. Spending time outdoors has been known to improve short-term memory, restore mental energy and relieve stress, among other things. Don’t believe us?
Just spend some time in the Schiphol Airport gardens – or any of these other international airport gardens to test it out.
Schiphol Airport Gardens: Go on an Airport Garden Adventure
On the rooftop at Amsterdam Airport you can find a beautifully landscaped garden with benches to kick back and relax on amongst live trees, flowers and other plants. They also have a “park cafe” where you can take your laptop and work with the greenery.
But inside is where the real “green” action is. Called the Airport Park, the indoor area features faux log benches and trees, pathways and a soundtrack of birds chirping and children playing. Bring a book, relax, maybe even take a nap. It’s the perfect way to recharge.
Another bonus: stationary bikes to get your heart racing and your electronics charging while you wait for your next flight. Yes, you read that right – the bikes actually generate energy to charge up your phone or iPod, etc. Now that’s what we call a worthwhile workout!
Once you’ve made your way through the Schiphol Airport Gardens, there’s one last green stop: baggage claim. It’s not possible to miss this one. This is your last chance to breathe in the fresh floral scents and calm your senses with nature. (Nature has been proven to do that.)
So next time you’re at Schiphol Airport, make sure you have time to enjoy an airport garden adventure. Trust us, getting off a plane and heading for a nap in the wilderness is just what you need.
