Airport Hydration Stations: Thirst Aid For Travelers

Airport Hydration Stations – Avoid Feeling Parched While Traveling

We’ve all had those times when we’ve had to decide whether it’s really “worth it” to purchase that $6 bottle of spring water at the airport. Luckily for all of us travelers trekking the globe, airport hydration stations are now a thing!

Yes. You read that right.

Airports across the United States are incorporating airport hydration stations in an effort to water their patrons.

But why?

Well, it’s apparent that the airports have finally smartened up to the needs of travelers!

It’s about time!

Dehydration While Traveling Calls For Airport Hydration Stations

So one of the biggest issues while traveling is getting dehydrated. Unfortunately, one of the many issues that can arise in the human body is dehydration. When our bodies don’t take in enough water, we start feeling terrible. Drinking water is healthy and definitely something any health-conscious traveler should do.

Bring Your Own Water Bottle For Airport Hydration Stations

So yea, airports are pushing travelers to start carrying their own empty water bottles while traveling. This is due to the fact that full and half-full water bottles end up in the trash a lot of times. The security checkpoints typically result in people having to ditch their bottled water and this makes trash bags quite heavy. It’s both time-consuming and expensive to have to carry all of the garbage this produces.

Where Are These Airport Hydration Stations?

I know, I know. you are thinking all airports have them. Sadly, not all of them do. While I was at Terminal 5 Jet Blu last year that had one refill station.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport has a hydration station that’s free to use. This station allows travelers to pour out their liquids in drains, giving them the chance to keep their bottles for refills once they get inside.

San Francisco Airport results in an understanding that they are actively working to reduce plastic waste. With that, the airport brought in two tap water airport hydration stations. These stations are allowing travelers to carry their own empty water bottles and fill them up as needed.

Hartsfield-Jackson also has refilling stations. These are found on Concourses A and T in the form of water fountains that dispense filtered water. This is yet another airport that is encouraging its passengers to reuse water bottles. When reusing water bottles, the reduction in airport waste is incredible.

What these airports are doing may not seem like much, but the fact is this should decrease the stress

Oregon’s Portland International Airport

Dallas Fort Worth

Passengers can refill water bottles using a replenish station at A24 or C27 on the secure side.

Miami International Airport

San Diego Airport

Boston Logan International Airport

Empty your water bottles before going through airport security at liquid collection stations and refill them post-security. Or recycle your empty containers and help to make Logan Airport greener. One liquid collection station is located in each terminal at the main checkpoint (except for the American Airlines checkpoint in Terminal B).

Locations in Terminals B, C, and E.

Phoenix Sky Harbor

There are seven water bottle filling stations available in Terminal 4, which serves approximately 80% of Sky Harbor’s passengers.  13 filling stations in total, located past security and near the entrances to all of its concourses.

All of Vancouver International Airport’s terminal washrooms have a water refill station or a mix of water/bottling stations. The benefits of water are known to combat bad moods—and who doesn’t want to feel happier at the airport? We do!

This airport has 52 water bottle refilling stations throughout the concourses. Pack an empty water bottle and fill it up before your flight.
