Marqette: Dublin Airport’s Farm-to-Table Restaurant That’s Always a Winner

Recently, we attended the Moodie Davitt Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards at The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto, Canada. While at the event we had the opportunity to meet the Marqette Dublin team – one of our favourite healthy food spots at Dublin Airport.

Marqette was awarded number one in the world from a shortlist of almost 250 entries from all sectors of the food and beverage industry. They’re now the reigning champs for the Airport Food Hall of the Year award. Congrats Marqette Dublin!

Commenting on the win, we have our own reasons why we think they are so deserving of this award. Let’s check out the their healthy food offerings.

Marqette Dublin: The Farm-to-Table Restaurant That’s Always a Winner

Breakfast at Marqette Dublin Airport

Breakfast:

We love the cooked-to-order 3 egg (free range Irish eggs) omelette with 3 fillings of your choosing. They also have Eggs Benedict, that takes a few minutes to prepare but it’s well worth the wait!

For those in a hurry, definitely grab one of their freshly baked scones or pastries from Marqette Dublin’s on-site bakery.

Lunch and Dinner:

They recommend their roasted corn-fed Irish chicken with its own spice rub. As you know, we are not fans of the pre-made salad, and Marqette has their very own make your own salad counter! It features an extensive range of items to suit all tastes.

We have previously reported on their grab and go ‘Food on the Fly’ offerings that give passengers a wide variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, crudités, fruit pots and juices. Further, they have protein bars from Fulfil and Irish Biltong (a high protein Irish beef snack).

The shelf life of their sandwiches and pre-made salads is 3 days, but with the volumes they do at Marqette Dublin, their stock rotation means most items are sold within 2 days!

Other Snacks:

They also offer gluten free bread, scones, chocolate brownies and cereal. Michael Thornton, General Manager of Marqette told us that “food items are prepared fresh every day which means there is a great variety to our food offerings”. Also, that their “main food suppliers are located within 15kms of the airport and everything is fully traceable from farm-to-fork”.

So far, each and every one one of these food items has sent us a pretty clear message: healthy eating at the airport is not compromised at Marqette Dublin. So, we agree wholeheartedly that Marqette is extremely deserving of Moodie Davitt Airport FAB award!
