Who wants to eat fresh when they’re travelling? We do! First on our list of places to eat fresh while travelling is Vancouver International Airport.
YVR is the gateway to a lot of international flights and there are some real standout restaurants at here, but unfortunately they’re few and far between. There are a lot of fast food and chain restos, but hopefully with more and more people wanting to eat fresh, nutritious food they will change this situation in the near future!
The best places to eat fresh at YVR
1. Globe@YVR, Fairmont Hotel at YVR. This is a restaurant that is very British Columbia, featuring Pacific Northwest cuisine. Dishes include BC seafood chowder, Pacific grey cod fish and chips, and chicken with BC mushrooms. There are a variety of vegan and gluten free options available as well. One of the best things about this restaurant is that you’d never know you were at the airport. The space is gorgeous.
Can’t get a better view (or food) than at Globe Bistro!

2. Vino Volo, International Before Security. Described as an ‘oasis of calm’, this highly recommended wine bar/restaurant features small plates and wine flights – perfect for a layover where you want to just relax. The restaurant is a chain that’s in many American airports, but they’ve managed to keep things real in that the food, menu selection and service remain high quality.

Domestic Terminal, after security at gate B28.
International Terminal, before security at arrivals on level 2.
U.S.A. Terminal, after security at gate E83.
3. White Spot, Domestic Terminal Before Security. White Spot is a solid bet at YVR. For those craving something healthier however, you’ll have to look a little further than the ‘Triple O Burger’ – one of White Spot’s best. I can assure you though, that there are options that are fresh and healthy, such as the sandwiches, roast chicken dinner with vegetables, and beautiful (not to mention huge) salads. It’s fun for the kids too – they get their meals served in a cardboard pirate ship called a Pirate Pak.
Craving some local steelhead benedict? White Spot has it!
Location:
Domestic Terminal, before security on level 3.
4. Monk’s Grill, Domestic Post Security. Monk’s has some great reviews, and with good reason – the food and service are both fabulous. Definitely order the salmon with polenta and arugula or the fish tacos! They’re both made with fresh BC seafood. Monk’s also offers sandwiches, burgers, and ribs.
Location:
Domestic Terminal, after secutiry at gate C48.
